Hello everyone again. First, make your scale, then animate your scale, and finally, add objects to it to make it tilt back and forth. There are two ways to do this. Alright, I will now show you how to create your basic scale with shapes. Next, make a horizontal bar across the top. If you know, feel free to share. So, make one line then make it thicker three points, color orange to match. Then copy and Flip Horizontally. And now make the bottom of the scale with a thin rectangle there. Copy and hang the copy on the other side as well.

It just looks a little bit better.

How to create a stunning Scales Diagram in PowerPoint

For this step, we will need to take the bar to the side like this and have the scales go up or down with it. First, we see where the position of the bar will be, at ten degrees clockwise, so go to Format Shape and rotate it ten degrees clockwise. This way we can create motion paths for the scales to be in the same place. And you can see in PowerPointI get a nice preview of where the scale will go. Okay, done. And line it up in the same way. Make them 1. Now we can tip it with the spin animation instead.

Very cool and again nice. Now if you just needed to tip one away like this, skip to Step 3 right now. Otherwise, if you want to come back to its original position, keep watching. To have it come back, we first have to duplicate or make a copy of our slide.

So, we first add the ten degrees Rotation in Format Shape. This is a little tricky but we copy each scale, and we carry the copied scale over to the other side. Now pay attention to the areas in yellow as we go on to the second slide.

Oh, there was a jump. Watch it again.

Looks like on the second slide we need to move the top scale up and left and the bottom scale down and right. And see how it goes. So now we finally have the scale which is fantastic because it is a little bit of a pain to build as you saw.

But once you have it done, the good news is that you can repurpose it for many future projects. First, we can add a bounce entrance fact to make it more fun, then we go to Add Animation and add a downward motion path to it.

It works best for this part if we do a maximum zoom. Now we try to make the motion path exactly the same as the scale.

So, play around with that. That should be good. And then the next one after that start After Previous. Make the motion path we just added start With Previous too. Change the duration to one second to match everything else and take out the smooth start and smooth end.You have not viewed any products yet.

The result is a simple graphic fit for presentations to clients or executives, but not quite flexible enough for those who need to show more accurate details or update the timeline regularly. For those who need to regularly create and update timeline slides for high-level presentations, a simple and fast solution would be to use a PowerPoint add-in that automates the process.

On this page, you will see both the manual and the automatic way to make a timeline in PowerPoint. Creating PowerPoint timelines automatically takes: 2 mins. Creating PowerPoint timelines manually takes: 30 mins. Create a new presentation or open an existing one and add a new blank slide. In the window that pops up, select the Process category, where you will find a variety of graphic options to choose from for your PowerPoint timeline. You can change the style at any time from the SmartArt Tools Design tab on the ribbon if you want to try out different layouts for your graphic.

The initial graphic generated by PowerPoint will have placeholder text and only 3 milestones. You can insert your own data directly on the graphic by typing inside the [Text] boxes on the slide, but adding new milestones or events besides the 3 default ones can become a little tricky this way.

If the Text Pane is not already visible, click on the small icon right on the left of your timeline arrow to open it. Here, type in your milestone dates and descriptions, and PowerPoint will automatically update the graphic.

Note: As you will notice, PowerPoint places your milestones equidistant on the timeline, regardless of the relative distance between their dates. To add more milestones, simply press Enter after an existing item in the Text Pane and insert your data.

To ensure your data remains easy to read, it would be safe to keep to maximum 5 or 7 milestones. Instead, you can expand the size of the graphic box as I did above, and PowerPoint will automatically make the milestone descriptions larger too. Now you can apply some styling choices if you want to make your PowerPoint timeline look more unique. To customize the overall look of your timeline, you can change the SmartArt Styles and color palettes from the SmartArt Tools Design tab on the ribbon.

In my example, I chose a darker color scheme from the Change Colors dropdown and selected the Intense Effect option from the Styles menu to make the milestone circles stand out a bit better.

While the SmartArt functions apply to the whole graphic, you can also customize individual items on the timeline. To do this quickly, right-click on any item and use the formatting options that pop up to restyle it.

To do so, select the objects you wish to customize and, using the options in SmartArt Tools Format tab, you can resize them quickly or switch to other shapes.

After testing more shapes and sizes using the Format tab, my timeline now looks like this:.
